Win away at Bamville and have now won 5 out of the last 6 games

07 Sep 2014

Arkley took their run of good form to 1 defeat in 10 on Sunday – and have now won 5 out of the last 6 games!

Away to Bamville, a picturesque setting on the 3rd fairway of Harpenden common golf course, Arkley were asked to field after losing the toss.  Sharma extended his playing record and Bamville started like a train, hitting the ball to the boundary, and after 5 overs the score was 35-0 off 5 overs, with 2 dropped catches.

Arkley then pegged it back well, with solid spells from James (0-36), Jonesy (1-49), Chrissy (2-30) & special guest Dutchie (3-11).  Ben (2 wkts) and Jega (2 wkts) both chipped in and after staring a score well over 220 in the face, did well to restrict them to 164ao.

After a lovely tea Khalid (24) and Ian opened the batting and set a solid foundation taking us to 57 without loss. Then James (19) took us through to drinks – 65-1… so 100 needed off the last 20 with wickets in hand. In a perfectly timed acceleration Ian took the attack to the oppo along with Dutchie (34*) put on a stand of 73 in 8 overs. Ian finished up with 69 and smacked  10 fours and a six and we finished comfortable 165-3 in 31.1 overs. A great win for Arkley and here’s hoping the good form continues for the last 2 games.
