Arkley Cricket Club News story

No stopping the Arkley juggernaut as they make it 4 wins in a row

25 Aug 2014

Arkley won an unlikely game on Saturday, completing the double over Old Eastcotians.
After being inserted on a pitch with considerable bare patches (Chris described them as craters), the pitch lived up to the hype - Arkley slumped to 24-3.
Khalid and Ben then repaired the innings with a solid stand of 63 before Burney was run out. Jake was out to an amazing diving catch (by an apparently non cricketer!) and with overs running out, Ben kept losing partners at the other end before a shooter did for him LBW. Chris went out gallantly to face the craters with CT, but alas those craters served up a first ball duck (see photo). All out 127.

So with a low total to defend, OE raced to 60-1 off 10 overs and it was looking like an early finish with their hard hitting opener (dropped twice by the skipper) scoring 50 out of the 60. Phil Knappett then bowled the opener and along with Ben, slowed the scoring. Jon Knappett followed Ben and found the right spot. Suddenly wickets started falling, and the run rate dropped to 2 an over.
But it was Jake Sittampalam, with 4 wkts who stole the show, bowling with great accuracy and lively pace, that saw us turn it around and win by 15 runs.
A great win for Arkley now onto UCS at home next week - can they make it 5 on the bounce??
