Arkley Cricket Club News story

James Franklin maiden ton

26 Jul 2014

A hot and beautiful day in leafy Berkhamsted, Arkley won the toss and batted first. After impressive 20s in his last 2 innings James was asked to open the batting with Khalid. Hitting the ball to all parts of the ground, and surviving a close run out after a mix up with Phil Knappett, James came off with 114 to his name and Arkley making 233-6 in 39.2 overs.

In the field Kiran opened up well with Jonesy, sharing the first 5 wkts. Then the skipper (3 wkts) with Chris (1 wkt)  bowled a few overs, with Phil Knappett finishing it off with a typically generous LBW decision.  Arkley winning by 143 runs.

Congratulations to James, who shows he is developing his skills to become a solid all rounder.
Proud Dad Chirs, still reeling after James' dropped catch off his bowling, took sometime to emerge from the dressing room. Once he did, he happily bought 2 jugs of beer to share with us and the oppo and a jolly good time was had by all.
