Welcome to the website of Arkley Cricket Club

A cricket club of mixed abilities and ages, we only play friendly cricket games generally on Saturdays and occasional Sundays.

On here you can view stats, scorecards, read the latest news of what's happening in the club and look at a few photos as well.

Mission Statement – Team Secretary Phil Pennicott

The Club’s objectives talk about promoting the sport and providing opportunities for recreation, coaching and competition, whilst at all times abiding by the ECB’s Code of Conduct incorporating the Spirit of Cricket.
Arkley CC is a small Club and is unusual in this day and age by playing only friendly cricket.  This we do competitively but in a friendly spirit. Our fixture list contains a mixture of opponents of long standing and of recent acquisition. We generally play “timed” cricket (i.e tea between innings following dismissal or declaration)  rather than limited overs.
The Club is noted particularly for a high incidence of fathers, sons and brothers playing and we have had a daughter in the XI as well.  Like a lot of small clubs we welcome friends and acquaintances being introduced and regular winter nets sessions permit a natural introduction to us in a safe environment.
Though small, the Club is well run by a diligent Committee and, as is typical in friendly cricket, you can rely on everyone “getting  a  go”.   You won’t be excommunicated  for dropping a catch, either.  However if you do hold onto one, it won’t be missed, as the Club is very well documented statistically.  We are run economically and do our own umpiring, scoring and tea making. Again everybody mucks in with a team effort and it is only a matter of time before Arkley CC home teas get a mention on Trip Advisor.
We have a “groundforce day” day close to the start of the season where we paint the sightscreens and tidy up the ground and pavilion as best we can. All these activities have been known to generate a thirst and it is in the relaxing atmosphere of a nearby hostelry that you can re-live that superb catch and vote for your fellow best batsman bowler and fielder where such points mean end-of-season prizes.
There are a few members who have been with the Club over 30 years so we must be doing something right, but having said that we welcome new blood  and ideas to  carry the Club forward.
